I had the chance to visit Cuba for 3 weeks during my winter break.
The country is unbelievably colorful and photogenic. It was my break from photojournalism and my return to where I started, street photography.
I tasted the freedom that I haven't felt in a long time. Personally when I take street photographs, I don't have to think too much about the journalistic matters such as getting names, talking to my "subjects", finding stories, ... Strictly visual. Light and moments.
Since Cuba was my getaway, I set myself free of the pressure to get close to people in any sense even though they're still my primary interest. I always deliberately remained my distance as a mere observer and capturer. I let them live and let myself breathe.
The tranquility Cuba gave me is unforgettable. I will always have a soft spot in my heart for the country and its people. It is my plan that I have to return one day.
